General questions about jquery load and placement on my page

I was wondering, will the Foxycart code work if I load jquery at the bottom of my page before the closing /body tag? Or, does it have to load before the Foxycart code?

If I am loading jquery version 1.8 or better, is there any requirement for loader.js?
